In this blog we take a look how you can make your boots or shoes even more unique by snaring your laces. There are several ways to tie your laces, so you can give your shoe that extra bit. You can also change the look of the shoes by tying it differently. Also knotting your laces can be more comfortable in a different way and you can offer your foot more support. We give you a few bow methods that we think will benefit the look of your boots. Lacing leather boots is an art.
Method 1 Straight Bar Lacing
The straight lacing method is also referred to as the “Fashion lacing”. This method does not show the underlying diagonals, which makes it look tougher. Furthermore, less pressure is placed on the upper edge of the foot using this method.

Start straight on the outside (gray part) and inside through the eyes at the bottom.
- The left (blue) end runs straight up on the inside and then straight on on the outside.
- Both ends run straight up on the inside, each of which skips an eye and two eyes rise.
- Both ends run straight on the outside and through the adjacent eyes.
- Exchange inside and outside on the outside until the basting is complete.
Method 2 | Sawtooth Lacing
With this method all underlying sections are pulled at a steep angle, whereby the alignment of the sides is shifted and an otherwise less fitting shoe can be corrected. The left and right shoes must be reversed, to express the appearance and the effect on both shoes.

- Start straight on the outside (gray part) and inside through the eyes at the bottom.
- The left (blue) end runs straight up on the inside and then straight on on the outside.
- The right (yellow) end runs diagonally up and left on the inside, then straight on on the outside. Repeat with other ends until one end reaches the top left eye.
- The remaining end runs straight in and out through the eye at the top right.
Method 3 | Double Helix Lacing
This patented method, also called “Spiralacing”, leaves the fins one side out and the other side inwards. This method is not only easy to do, but also looks extremely decorative. Both in sneakers and boots, this method is a graceful expression.

- Start straight over the bottom (gray area). Note the unusual path: Execute the left end through the eye at the bottom left. Enter the right end through the eye at the bottom right.
- With each eye pair, the straighter end runs diagonally on the inside and from the next higher eye on the left, while the left end runs diagonally on the outside and inside through the next higher eye on the right. Repeat until the basting is complete.
